Summary

Set in the period from 1917 to the early 1930s, the story documents the codependent relationship of Dick and Nicole Diver -- glamorous, sophisticated expatriate Americans in France. They are also fabulously rich and live in a whirl of exciting social events and parties -- but their lives are empty, and their personalities shallow.
